Bespoke bookcases in reclaimed wood

Bookcases and equipped walls bespoke-made in reclaimed wood

We design and produce bespoke bookcases using reclaimed wood, handcrafted in our workshop. Each bookcase is conceived as an architectural project: not a simple piece of furniture, but a system capable of dialoguing with the space that hosts it, whether domestic or open to the public.

Controprogetto bookcases are created through the recomposition of materials that already carry a history. Disused parquet flooring, panels, and wooden slats are reassembled to generate unique structures, intended for private homes, professional studios, and commercial spaces. Each project is different because the space is different, the use is different, and the material itself is different.

Each Controprogetto bookcase and equipped wall is unique because:

1

The material defines the outcome

We use exclusively reclaimed wood, each piece with different characteristics. This makes repetition impossible: every piece is created from an unrepeatable combination of marks, grain, and tones.

2

Every step is handled in-house

Design, fabrication, and assembly take place in our workshop in Milan. There are no outsourced phases or industrial standards: the bookcase takes shape following the project and the actual material, not a predefined model.

3

It is always a bespoke project

Shapes, proportions, patterns, and structure are defined in relation to the space and its use. Whether for a private residence or a commercial space, the bookcase or equipped wall is not an isolated object, but a design element.

Some questions our clients often ask

Yes. Every bookcase is designed starting from the available space—full walls, niches, generous heights, or more compact solutions. The project always begins with the actual measurements and the intended use.

No. We design wall-mounted, free-standing, partitioning, or architecturally integrated bookcases, depending on the characteristics of the space and the required function.

Yes. Patterns are a distinctive feature of Controprogetto, but they are not mandatory. Bookcases can be created with more essential surfaces or with custom textures, always using reclaimed wood.

Yes. Each bookcase is designed taking real loads into account: books, objects, archives, or display elements are all considered during the design phase.

Production times depend on the complexity of the project, its dimensions, and the finishes. Contact us and tell us about your project.

Certainly! We have an extensive collection of patterns and textures that you can start exploring on the dedicated patterns page of our website, or, if you prefer, you’re welcome to visit us to choose the solution best suited to your project.
